Wanted: Green Tomatoes [Boston area]
Oct. 1st, 2007 10:23 amDo you have a garden? Are you growing tomatoes? Will you be overrun with green ones when the first frost is upon us in a few weeks?
I'm looking for a bunch of green tomatoes, so that I can make mock mincemeat (i.e. "green tomato mincemeat"). I used my last jar last year, and for me, Thanksgiving just wouldn't be the same without a mincemeat pie.
I'll pick up the tomatoes from you, and if you're interested, I'll give you a jar of the resulting mock mincemeat.
Alternatively, if you know of a place where I can actually purchase green tomatoes, I'd be interested in hearing about that, too.

Date: 2007-10-01 04:21 pm (UTC)I also have my grandmother's old-fashioned recipe, which is what we used when I was a kid. That one calls for loads of sugar and loads of cider vinegar.
I could post them both.
If you think you'll have extra green tomatoes, let me know. :-)
