Apparently one cannot have an evening gown altered unless one brings in the shoes that one intends to wear with it.

Except one doesn't yet own the shoes, because one has very wide feet, which makes shoe shopping a special sort of hell.

And here I was, thinking I was clever for bringing in the intended undergarments.

This is the part where I get gripey at all of the boys, who get to simply go out and rent a tux.

hmm. the one time I had to have a dress altered to be in a wedding I just had my mom do it (well, she pinned it for me and I did the sewing, since it's nigh impossible to pin a dress while you're wearing it). admittedly I already owned the shoes from a pervious wedding I was in.

Yeah, I seriously thought about that. The necessary alterations are within my capabilities, but I'd need to find someone to help me do the pinning, and besides, the one thing I do not have between now and the date of this event is time.

So paying for alterations it is.
