So, we saw the movie tonight. It was OK, and a good way to spend Date Night.

Outside the theater earlier in the evening (and therefore outside the mall, because the theater is in the mall), there were protesters who thought it would be a good idea to have their very small children walk out in front of cars and attempt to hand religious pamphlets to people.

I just don't get it.

Eventually, the police drove them off, I think in part because of endangering their children and in part because they were seriously blocking traffic on a busy street.

Frankly, had the small-child protester not endangered her life to try to save my soul or something, it probably wouldn't have occurred to me to go to this movie tonight. Maybe I should track them down and thank them for my pleasant evening.

Heck, I was a MISSIONARY, and would never have put my child in that kind of position. Then again, I was never really one for getting in people's faces about things like that, either.

I've heard so much negative stuff from the critics, I was wondering if it was going to be worthwhile. I suppose it's another to put on the Netflix list when it comes out on DVD. Our date nights are usually "in" nowadays.

We need to find a local babysitter. I should try at the high school

It was OK. It wasn't oh-wow-this-is-amazing...which sort of surprised me, I guess, given how excited people were about the book (which I haven't read).

I'd definitely rent it, anyway.

I'd be one of those horrible threats to the American family. I'd go to the child and say..."its ok honey...I know the big bad movie isn't the truth...Jesus wasn't married...he was gay! Can you say "gay"?

Why aren't you with me when I need a witty comeback? Hmm?

That's kind of how the book was. Almost all of the Pagans I know who have read it (and have been practicing for awhile) said, "but we already knew that stuff, we heard about it years ago." Now, by virtue of hitting the best seller list, it has finally come to the attention of everybody else.

I have a thought on that-
why not exchange babysitter nights with Jeff and Nancy- you watch their kids one night and they watch your kids one night so that you get a chance to have a grownups night out. :)
Just an idea...
